List of top 5 places to visit in Turkey

Here's a list of a few amazing places to visit in Turkey:

1. Cappadocia

Cappadocia is a historical region in central Anatolia and has a lot to offer. It's made of small village towns and valleys It is mainly famous because of the oddity of its rock formations and the hot air balloon rides.

The peculiar looks of the rocks are formed due to volcanic ash, that's what makes it so crumbling and easy to shape, so it is naturally shaped and eroded by wind. It is so rich in minerals that you can literally see 100s of different colors in its terrain.

If you are newly married or about to get married, you must visit Cappadocia. The hot air balloons and its picturesque beauty makes it so romantic for the couples especially. Other than these things, Cappadocia has an open-air museum, a castle named Uchisar, Pigeon Houses, and some fascinating underground cities as well.

2. Istanbul

Number two on my list is the great city of Istanbul. It's the most populous city in Turkey and also the country's economic and cultural capital.

It's the only city in the world which is transcontinental, that means, half of it is located in Europe while the other half in Asia, but Europe has the better half of the city.

It's a very cosmopolitan and diverse city, you'll probably find people from all other countries in Istanbul because of its diversity.

You'll find a spirit of the medieval era in Istanbul because it has been home to three major civilizations, Byzantines, Roman and Ottoman, so it is full of history and culture.

It has some really cool places to visit like Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar. Turkish Cuisine is ranked among the top 10 in the world, you can also have a taste of that in Istanbul.

3. Kabak Bay

Number 3 on my list would be Kabak Bay which is a slice of paradise on Earth. It's the Mediterranean coast of Turkey and is famous for its turquoise, clearwater beaches which are surrounded by mountains.

It's a summer destination and people come here for its tranquility and isolation. Kabak Bay has amazing hotels, restaurants, and bars to spend time in. It's a little-visited area comparatively but it's worth it.

4. Pamukkale

That means "cotton castle" in Turkish and is located in southwestern Turkey. The area is famous for the carbonate mineral left by the flowing water, which looks like snow in the pictures but it's actually not snow, in fact, it's quite hot out there in Pamukkale.

However, carbonate minerals make beautiful formations naturally and that's what attracts millions of tourists every year.

You would not want to go there in the afternoon because you'll probably get a bad sunburn and you'll end up ruining your trip, so it is highly recommended that you visit it in the evening or in the early morning. The area has a temperate climate for most of the year.

5. The City of Ankara

It's the second-largest city in Turkey and is located in the middle of the country. It is also the capital of Turkey.

If you are a great fan of Art, Culture or Museums, then this place is for you. Ankara has its own quaint vibes, because of the remains of great old civilizations and their archaeological sites.

On the other hand, it's a metropolis with modern architecture and home to government buildings, commercial businesses, universities, and foreign embassies.

There are a lot of things to do in Ankara such as visiting the great Ankara Castle (Kalesi) for great Instagram pictures or visiting Anitkabir which is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and museums such as the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Cengelhan Rahmi M. Koc Museum.
